About the Role

SC Audit is seeking a motivated and dedicated SAICA Trainee to join its professional team in Bellville, Cape Town. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring Chartered Accountants (South Africa) to complete a SAICA training contract within a supportive and dynamic environment.

The successful candidate will gain practical experience across accounting, auditing, taxation, and financial reporting while working closely with experienced professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performing audit procedures and assisting with audit engagements
  • Preparing financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards
  • Assisting with the preparation and submission of tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and other entities
  • Performing accounting and bookkeeping functions for a diverse client base
  • Preparing working papers and supporting documentation for audit and accounting assignments
  • Assisting with statutory and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Liaising professionally with clients and responding to requests for financial information
  • Conducting reconciliations and financial analyses as required
  • Maintaining accurate and organised client files and documentation
  • Participating in ongoing professional development and completing all requirements of the SAICA training programme

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As a SAICA Trainee, the successful candidate will work as part of a professional accounting and audit team. Daily duties may include preparing accounting records, assisting with audits, compiling financial statements, communicating with clients, conducting reconciliations, and supporting senior team members on various assignments, with practical exposure to a broad range of financial disciplines designed to support progress towards the Chartered Accountant (South Africa) designation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Studying towards, or have completed, a SAICA-accredited qualification
  • Strong academic record and commitment to pursuing the CA(SA) designation
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications advantageous
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong attention to detail

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00.

Training Contract

This is a full-time SAICA training contract position:

  • 3-year training contract for candidates who meet the applicable academic requirements
  • 5-year training contract for candidates whose qualifications require the extended training route

Contract duration is determined by the successful applicant’s academic qualifications and eligibility requirements.

Salary and Benefits

Salary is market-related and will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, academic achievements, and relevant experience.
